KRISTEN BUTEAU, CAC

Kristen is a counselor at Hockanum Valley Community Council with over six years of experience in the behavioral health field. Kristen currently holds an Associate Degree in Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counseling (DARC) and is a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC).

Kristen serves as a counselor in the Advanced Supervision and Intervention Support Team (ASIST), which provides wraparound services to clients who are severely mentally ill (SMI) with ongoing legal involvement. Within the program, clients are provided clinical and case management services to ensure they are successful while in the community throughout their legal involvement. In addition, Kristen is a co-facilitator of START NOW, a weekly group through ASIST that focuses on basic life skills.

Kristen specializes in addiction and works with clients that primarily have substance misuse disorders.  She facilitates a bi-weekly Suboxone group, which focuses on maintaining a substance free lifestyle while on Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT).  She also provides individual therapy, utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary form of treatment, under the direct supervision of the Director of Outpatient Services, Terri Ouellette, LCSW.
